Alan Moore Big Nemo

It looks like Avatar may publish Alan Moore's and Colleen Doran's Big Nemo. The format would have to fit the comic book format.

Kevin Nowlan demonstrates in SD Pictures

Here are a couple of drawings/sketches by Kevin Nowlan from the presentation he did with Soltero at SDCC 2015. He is well respected, not only by fans, but from fellow professionals. He also won the Inkpot award this year at Comic-Con International. Congrats to Kevin and his family.

SDCC events & related 2015

* Outlander cast was present, with an author signing, and a cast one.

*An exclusive Groo/Conan HC bk premiered at the show

* Kevin Nowlan attended the figure drawing panel, with Soltero, and he received the coveted and well deserved Inkpot award. It has been deserved for a long time now. Kevin went over some value and inking concepts and demonstrated by drawing, during the Friday night event at Comic Con International, aka SDCC. IMPORTANT--if anyone took photos of the presentation please send a copy.

* The Star Wars panel was a highlight with new and original (including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher) cast present along with director J.J. Abrams. I hope they include Lando (Billy Dee Williams) in this upcoming movie or the one after.

Figure Drawing for Popular Media

Emilio Soltero, Ph.D. (John Buscema: A Life in Sketches; Draw the Line), and Kevin Nowlan (Hellboy, The Graveyard Book, Marvel and DC variant covers), present a primer on drawing the figure for popular media, including drawing for comics and character design. The focus will be on anatomy and figure drawing. Emilio will lecture and demonstrate on figure drawing, while Kevin will focus on inking and related areas. There will be time to draw as well. Cosplayers are welcome to model. Bring your drawing supplies to draw models/cosplayers during this interactive presentation.

Emilio Soltero to present at Wizard Con Sacramento summer 2015

Emilio Soltero will present on figure drawing and will demonstrate at Wizard Comic Con in Sacramento, currently scheduled for Friday, June 19th (NOTE CHANGE0, in Sacramento, California.

Cosplayers are welcome to attend.

Herb Trimpe & Percy Sledge pass

Two iconic artists have passed, Herb Trimpe & Percy Sledge. One was the first to draw Wolverine and the other sang one of the most romantic songs ever written and sung. Herb passed late Monday and was scheduled to attend BIG WoW this coming weekend. Percy was still recording as of the last few years and died at age 73. Mr. Trimpe was 75.

Wondercon is moving for the 2016 show

WonderCon 2016 will be held in Los Angeles, from March 25-27.
Apparently, the Anaheim convention center is being upgraded, but isn't this the same thing they said about the move from San Francisco. We will see. At least the movie stars will be closer to the convention.

Anyone who lives or has lived in LA knows the traffic and smog issues.

Alex Niño joined the Wondercon panel along with Soltero

Alex Niño was kind enough to join the panel, along with Emilio Soltero, at Wondercon this last weekend. Our gratitude to all of the cosplayers. Niño had advanced copies of his new sketchbook but the book sold out by Saturday afternoon. More copies to follow and more info. on how to order coming soon.

Cynthia Lennon first wife of John Lennon has died at age 75 in Spain

Cynthia Lennon first wife of John Lennon has died at age 75.

She met John in art college and had a son in 1963, Julian, a talented musical artist as well.
John had a challenging marriage with his wife Cynthia and later met Yoko Ono, also a musician. Their most famous album together was Double Fantasy, released circa 1980.

Cynthia Lennon, lost her recent husband in 2013.

Calling all cosplayers!!

Golden Age Comic Artist, Irwin Hasen, has passed.

Irwin Hasen was the co-creator of Dondi, a famous orphan. There was possibly a Dondi movie several decades ago. Irwin also worked for DC during its Golden Age and did other work as well. Born July 8, 1918,Ny, Ny and died on March 13, 2015. Irwin attended the same high school as Will Eisner, the De Witt Clinton school. He also created Wildcat for DC.
